Our Time 1x5

Commissioned by The Store X The Vinyl Factory, this site-specific iteration of Our Time is one of three works in United Visual Artists’ solo exhibition Other Spaces, at 180 The Strand.
With a new score by electronic musician Mira Calix and an updated pendulum configuration, Our Time 1x5 is a multi-sensory, multi-dimensional installation aims to manipulate our experience of time. As the kinetic sculptures swing overhead at a pace seemingly unhindered by the laws of nature and gravity, they project light and sound transforming the space they occupy, and by doing so the passing of time becomes almost palpable.
The work joins a series of kinetic sculptures that began with Momentum (2014), an installation designed as a ‘spatial instrument’ that reveals the relationship between expectation and perception in physical space.
